The MooGoo Project

The skincare brand that I'm changing the majority of my products to is MooGoo. MooGoo is an small independent Australian Company that specialises in all natural products.
MooGoo isn't like any other "natural" skin care brand. For example "The __ Shop" that pretend to use natural ingredients when they actually pump their products with many chemicals. Some of MooGoo's products are even edible. This is an excerpt from their website (http://moogoo.com.au/company)

"MooGoo was first made when the founder adapted a cream used in dairy farms to help a family member with a skin problem. The dairy version of "udder cream" was designed to heal the cow's udders and keep them in good condition for milking. It was full of skin repair ingredients and no gimmicks. Cows don't care too much about the latest fad in skin care, or even "Organic blends of Horsetail and Bergamot..." They do need healthy skin on their most valuable assets. Although the original cream used in the dairy farms was legendary for its skin healing properties, it was thick and greasy. MooGoo modified the cream for human use by keeping all the skin healing properties but making it non-greasy."

As you can tell by reading the excerpt and going on the website this company is serious when it comes to natural products. My sister actually introduced me to MooGoo. She had Keratosis Pilaris and it improved tremendously thanks to MooGoo products so I've decided to switch my skincare to MooGoo as well :D. I haven't actually purchased anything yet but I plan to when I finish the products that I am using now. The following are the products I am interested in.

MooGoo Oil Cleanser Oily

Until now I've been using the Shu Uemura Fresh Pore Clarifying Cleansing Oil as my evening cleanser. I don't put on make up but I put on a chemical sunscreen that doesn't come off easily without an oil based cleanser.  Honestly until now I never looked at the ingredients of my skincare products and boy was I shocked. The Shu Uemura is predominately made up of mineral oil. I was and still am flabbergasted at the fact that I paid $110 for 450ml of petrol. (Mineral Oil is a by product of refining crude oil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mineral_oil). It's ridiculous. I can get that stuff for $1.23 a liter down the road. I read the ingredients list of the Shu Uemura and there's more than 20 and at least 17 of them aren't natural!!!! That's why I've decided to switch over to the MooGoo Oil Cleanser for Oily Skin. The MooGoo cleansing oil is made up of 100% natural, edible oils. Here is the ingredient list:

Jojoba Seed Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Castor Seed Oil, Avocado Oil, Tocopherol (<-- Vitamin E), Geranium Maculatum Oil, Lemon Oil, Juniperus Communis Fruit Oil

Doesn't it sound amazing. It's a little pricier than some of the Shu Oils as it's $24.90 for 100ml (just to put it into perspective if this was sold at the same size as the Shu Uemura cleansing oils it will cost $112.05) but I think it will be worth it. I can't wait to try this.

Acne Cleansing Cream

The name of this product is very confusing. It's not what you think it is. It's actually a moisturiser. They call it a "cleansing cream" because it cleanses your skin from bacteria (like any other anti blemish moisturiser would). Now it states on the website this moisturiser DOES NOT treat pre-existing pimples, it's more of a preventative moisturiser. It makes sense since it's all natural. There are no BHAs or AHAs in this "cleansing cream". So no Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid. The concept sounds pretty bizarre but it's exactly what I've been looking for. I currently use a BHA and AHA ointment for my acne and another product with similar ingredients is just over kill. This is an excerpt from MooGoo's wesbite on this product (http://moogoo.com.au/acne-cleansing-cream.html)

"MooGoo's Acne Cleansing Cream takes a new approach. It is a cleansing cream that also works as a leave on moisturiser.  This keeps skin healthy and young looking by using a high quality natural cream packed full of anti-oxidants, rather than chemicals. Other parts of the formulation help prevent excess oils on the skin becoming rancid which can be a cause of Acne as well as cleanse the skin of bacteria"

I contacted the MooGoo customer service and they told me that 2 in 3 customers see results with this moisturiser. Hopefully I will be a part of that two thirds.

MooGoo 100% Certified Organic Rosehip Oil

I've decided to add Rosehip Oil to my skin care regimen as I've heard wonderful things about it. It supposedly nourishes and heals the skin and helps a lot in fading post acne marks and scars. I looked at theTrilogy one but the price was way too dear for me. I haven't even begun using MooGoo products but I already trust them so I plan to purchase my Rosehip oil from them. Also it's significantly cheaper at only AUS$12 for 25ml in comparison to $30 something for the trilogy one. Hopefully my acne doesn't get worse from this. Oil on oily skin? Hmmmmmm. This better work.

Well I'll be posting my next post once I've purchased these products. I will be blogging about the condition of my skin on a weekly basis. Till next time bye :D.
